Thanks to the pleasant weather I’m on to my next batch of faceups, and the first one done this round is my SWS DDH-26 head. This doll is a relatively recent arrival and while I didn’t intend to repaint them anytime soon, I saw some gorgeous customs of the sculpt and realized I could do much better than the default faceup.
Seriously, his mouth is so wide, and the blush is very orange. Could not un-see.
My track record for keeping boys as boys isn’t great, but after Kaito’s arrival and seeing how good my SWS DDH-16 looked on the DDB body, I felt free to do a custom girly faceup for my DDH-26.
For this photoshoot they’re wearing a mystery second-hand wig, Volks outfit, my homemade UV resin eyes, and 3D printed hands by Otogi Industries. Currently they’re borrowing 2B’s DDdy body to complete the mature look. The eyes were particularly tricky since the best fit is a 22mm base with a very small print design, so I really had to dig through my collection to find eyes that fit nicely.
I didn’t have a specific character in mind for this faceup, just a general feel and very vibrant girly look. I think that helped to speed the process since I was less particular about details, and more into the overall feeling. The sculpt itself is pretty straightforward to paint, and the upper lip is fairly prominent so it was easy to fit in some painted teeth there.
With the dark wig she looks a lot like Liv Tyler, right?
The teeth are more visible with a wistful pose.
I don’t have a specific character in mind for this sculpt, but I’m having fun playing around with different looks for now. If you’re thinking about getting DDH-26 as a girl, I say go for it!
What a beautiful transformation. Kudos to you.
