I’m way behind on my arrivals posts due to travel and then Dolpa, but it’s time to introduce the newbies.
I don’t know a lot about Kotone’s character, but she’s so cute I couldn’t resist bringing her home. She’s also one of the rare collab models where I really like her default outfit and plan to use it. Unfortunately, her wig is pretty bad and that seems to be the consensus from most Volks Kotone owners. I didn’t bother to install the hair decorations or ribbons on this wig since I couldn’t get the bangs and side pieces to play nice.
It’s really a shame about the wig since the rest of her fullset is quite nice. I ended up swapping her to a Leeke Goldenrod color wig pretty quick and that worked well. Out of abundance of caution I didn’t use her black spats – they’re lined but not completely and there’s exposed black thread, so she’s got an alternate underwear selection from my stash. I had a vague plan of making her Maomao from Apothecary Diaries but I’m still kicking around ideas for her.
Arriving at the same time, thanks to DHL vacation hold, was the new Volks DDDy standard model Tsukina. I’d already planned to make a custom Umamusume Super Creek using a modded DDH-32 head, but fortunately Tsukina was announced before I got too far into that project. As you can see, she makes a nearly perfect Super Creek! Even her wig color and styling is close. And with these very tall platform heels, she definitely is reading as giant horse girl.

At some point I’ll make custom eyes for her, it’s been a bit tricky to do crafts at home with a new kitten who’s desperate to get into EVERYTHING. At least the magnetic ears I designed with DDH-32 in mind are working pretty well for her.
As part of Project Super Creek, I begin modifying a cheap wig to make a custom style for her but it didn’t really pan out. I’ll probably ditch this one and figure out how to add a braid to Tsukina’s wig, and call it a day with that. Unlike Kotone’s wig, Tsukina’s default wig is really lovely and nicely styled, and so close to the perfect style and color that I can’t abandon it.
