First faceup completed in 2025! It’s my Dunsparce project finally finished, featuring Imomo Doll Tiamat.
My original idea for this project was to make a cute-ified human version of my favorite Pokemon, Dunsparce. Since I wanted to bring this doll into my dayjob office building, I chose the cheap Imomo Doll 1/4 Mimi Rabbit body. This body has some similarities to MDD but also drawbacks (you get what you pay for) – my more in-depth Imomo Doll review is here. Funny enough, my original review was pretty positive but after hanging around the house for a year my Imomo’s legs have gotten pretty floppy, not sure if something is mis-aligned inside but the stability just isn’t there anymore.
Anyway, I originally kicked off this project in late 2023 with some rough concepts. First I sketched out a couple ideas for the overall look and outfit, which got adjusted as the realities of sewing and painting came into play. It’s a fun challenge to bring a drawing to life and overcome those roadbumps on the way!

Although I originally got the Imomo Miko head I decided that Tiamat was a better fit, so that’s part of why this whole project got dragged into 2025. For a while she was using my old SQ Lab head, which was really cute but I’m glad that I got around to finally finishing Tiamat.
For Tiamat’s faceup I painted Dunsparce’s signature gold and blue color scheme, with a hearty sprinkle of glitter and some iridescent blue flake to make it really shine. Dunsparce is meant to be a sort of snake-bee so I figured I could get away with some scaly sheen.
Her wig is from Mandarake, glasses and shoes came from Taobao. The fabric for her outfit is mostly Moda solids with some striped knit I picked up on Etsy. Some bits of this pattern are free on my gumroad page, too.
Now that Dunsparce-tan is finally complete, I hope she’ll enjoy her new home in my office!
