Over the holiday break, I endeavored to complete another sewing project- this time the theme was ‘cutie fruitbat’.
The idea had been kicking around in my head for a while, but it came together when I sketched out ideas for a kimono-style sleeve to evoke a bat’s wing, but with lots of cute lacey details. I didn’t end up including all the details from my concept and after trawling local fabric shops was pretty limited by what I could find, but I’m still happy with how it turned out.
Besides the kimono-inspired top, she has a circle skirt and petticoat, a wa-loli inspired overskirt, removable belt and bat ear headband. The lacy boots are from Volks and the glasses were picked up on Taobao. I was able to reuse the circle skirt pattern from another set, but everything else had to be drafted. The trickiest part of this outfit was sewing the bias tape into pointed corners- I recommend checking some youtube tutorials and using a template to sew around the corner neatly. I should mention that my model is a modified DDH-10 head in SWS on a MDD III body with S-bust.
