~ Dream Choice of my own ~
During my 2018 trip to Tokyo I was able to create my own Dream Choice doll. Since then I’ve picked up a few Dream Choice exclusives second hand, and even created a guide for Dream Choice in Japan. Eventually I decided I was ready to build another custom doll, at least to get the exclusive parts I wanted. Enter my newest arrival, Bonus-chan, an odd mismatched combo that delivered a bunch of cute parts that were promptly distributed to other dolls.
Bonus-chan has the DDH-24 head with M02 faceup and the newer one-piece MDD body, in semi-white skin. Thanks to the help of a proxy I was able to get exactly what I requested shipped to me, despite Covid and despite my very unusual request. This head is way too big for the body and seems a bit too heavy to even be supported well by the frame when she’s wearing a wig. Fortunately, I wanted to put the DDH-24 head on a DD body and use the MDD body for another project.
Bonus-chan also came with my chosen wig and eye combo – again eyes which aren’t well suited for this head but will get used by another doll.
I added the DD-EA-04 elf ears to my order as well. These style ears include a magnet and can be used on any DD head. The one-piece MDD body comes with white cotton boxers and a t-shirt, the boyish alternative to the usual satin slip that other Dream Choice MDD are paired with.
Bonus-chan always wants to look up because her huge head is so heavy :D
Next, the parts get divvied up…
Much better!
DDH-24 is more at home on DD body, and wearing some of my homemade eyes instead of the narrow ones.
Profile is cute, you can see she has cute teeth in a slightly-open mouth. The details are subtle but nicely proportioned.
She’s well suited to a sweet girly look.
As for the MDD body, Illya is borrowing it for now, though I plan to put a custom DDH-27 on it soon.
Compared to a regular MDD, the one-piece MDD body looks quite similar when clothed. It only looks shorter here because my DDH-21 is wearing taller shoes.
The MDD one-piece body is slim and gender-neutral. Because on the solid torso it’s harder to pose, so probably only a worthwhile investment if you really want a more boyish body or plan to have them wear more revealing outfits.
In the end I’d still love to return to Japan and make my Dream Choice in person, but for now I’m grateful it’s still possible to get a dream doll thanks to doll fans who charge very reasonable fees to provide a proxy service. I can definitely recommend my proxy for this doll, Sophie, who was excellent with communication, transparency in pricing and prompt service.
