Cute Redux – Emilia’s Return
I’ll confess this isn’t the first time Emilia was welcomed to the Doll Lab- I originally got V1 Emilia through the Volks lottery without any issue as she wasn’t too popular at the time. I thought she had potential for a custom project but didn’t do that or much of anything really after having her around for a few years. As the price and rarity of Emilia spiked I got nervous about repainting her and kept stalling. When I put up an ad to sell her fullset, I got an offer for Emilia too and decided it made sense to send her off to an Emilia mega-fan who could give her more attention.
So imagine my surprise when a new version of Emilia showed up this year! Although I waffled on entering again, I did end up missing her so I decided to put in for the Volks USA lottery and let fate decide.
Original Emilia’s expression is more soft and mysterious, where v2 has a cute, sweet feeling with more smile and delicate eyelashes. Her headsculpt is the same as the original, but the eye design has also changed along with her faceup. For this look, she’s wearing a Leeke wig with a Volks outfit and her original eyes.
I’ve been experimenting with some different looks for her, and found she always looks good in muted tones and pastels. I haven’t tried her default set yet, but may do so soon- after all, Rem is here as well! This wig is from Taobao, and the outfit is designed and sewn by me.
I haven’t been actively upgrading bodies to DD-f3 but it’s a nice improvement so I think I’ll start selling off the old bodies as new dolls arrive. My floating head collection will continue to- float? hover? as it has been for a while but I’m nearing DD capacity as it is!
A final note- nothing was out of sorts for Emilia v2’s arrival, she didn’t even have the neck hole cracks that have showed up in a lot of recent releases. Overall I’m very happy to see her around again!
