Meanwhile Kaito was on pre-order and I was packing up to move, I was trying my best not to buy more doll stuff. However I had to concede when one of my grail dolls, chocolate-color Kumako, was suddenly available. It seems that Puyoodoll found some unsold stock laying around and so there was a quick cart sale for a few remaining chocolate and milk tea Kumakos. These skin tones aren’t very popular in Asia so who knows when they’ll make another batch of them. Lucky for me there was just enough cash in my doll savings to snag her on short notice!
When Ruru arrived I realized that the chocolate skintone is similar to Volks tawny, it’s a really close match! Kumako Ruru also didn’t have many noticeable flaws or marbling that sometimes happen with tan resins.
Ruru arrived blank with just the human body, so after I got settled into my new house I gave her a quick faceup.
I forget how much easier it is to paint on resin than vinyl! She was a breeze to paint, wish they all went this smoothly.
I don’t have any Kumako-sized clothes yet but this older MDD Volks set is wearable, though the shorts are a very tight fit and the tops are way big. She’s a bit trickier to pose than MDD but the chonky legs and lower center of gravity make it really easy for her to stand stably.
I have few ideas for new outfits, but for right now she’ll just borrow from my MDDs while I figure out her style. Even if clothes are iffy, my collection of eyes and wigs work just fine.
